THE HORSEMAN AND FAIR WORLD, established in 1877, is harness racing’s only weekly magazine. Complete race results from the majority of North America's harness tracks, sales results, news features of current interest and statistical information relating to the sport are published at Lexington, Kentucky.

CLOSING DATES
The Horseman is published weekly with a Wednesday cover date. The deadline for advertising space reservations, and for ads requiring production, is Wednesday noon of the week preceding date of publication. Finished digital ad files must be received by The Horseman no later than Friday noon of the week preceding date of publication.

DISCOUNT RATES
Frequency rate discounts, as reflected in the price table, are determined by the number of insertions used by one advertiser during a 12-month period from the date of the first insertion. Space units of 1/4 page or larger apply toward earned discounts when varied size units are placed during the 12 months.

These discounts may be obtained beginning with the first insertion should advertiser agree to a contracted schedule prior to placing advertising space. Failure to place the number of ads ordered will result in the advertiser being charged the difference in rate between the actual number of insertions placed and the number specified by contract.

AGENCY DISCOUNTS
Black & White rate only (space rate) subject to agency discount of 15% when finished digital ad files are furnished by a recognized advertising agency. No discounts are allowed on color or bleed charges. When an account is not paid in full within 90 days, agency commission is forfeited entirely and The Horseman Publishing Co., Inc. reserves the right to bill the client directly.

PAYMENT POLICY
Accounts are billed weekly and due upon receipt. Accounts over 60 days are subject to a carrying charge of 1 1/2% interest per month (18% annually).

Advertiser agrees to relieve The Horseman Publishing Co., Inc. of responsibility from any and all claims or suits arising out of the publication of any advertisement. Acceptance of copy subject to publisher's approval.

HORSEMAN ADVERTISING PRODUCTION
The Horseman's award-winning advertising department offers professional research, copywriting, design and typesetting of your advertisement. Many other advertising services are also available, including advertising budget planning, brochure design, etc.

There are hourly-rate production charges for ads produced by The Horseman that require research, copywriting, design and art production. Race photos used in any ads will also include each track photographer's usage fee.

FINISHED DIGITAL AD FILE & PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS
Finished digital ad files should be supplied in the most current PDF (for print) standard. Please be sure to convert all photos in the original document from RGB to CMYK and be sure that image area/bleed specifications are met. Each page in two-page (or larger) spreads should be cropped and sent as an individual file. Digital photos sent for ads produced by The Horseman should be high-quality JPGs, at least 5" x 7" at 300 dpi.

Ad PDF files, or JPGs of photos, may be FTP'd to The Horseman (please call 859-276-4026 for FTP info), emailed to advertising@harnessracing.com, or placed on a disk and shipped by mail or courier. Traditional color or black and white photo prints are also accepted.

Please note: Any non-digital ad files received (film, laser prints, etc.) will incur conversion charges.
