Elitlopp Eve: More from Peter K on Enough Talk

Good Saturday afternoon here in North America. Here is Peter Kleinhans final, pre-Elitlopp blog post on his trotter Enough Talk:

"It's Elitlopp eve and all is well here in Stockholm.  Enough Talk jogged yesterday and today with pilot Luc Ouelette in the bike for the first time. Luc is a class guy who has taken a real interest in Enough Talk's pre-race routine, feeling him out and learning the horse's signals. He's not just a driver who will jump up two minutes before the race. (From Andrew: Amen to that. Luc is a fabulous horseman and ambassador to and for the sport. Now back to Peter...).

"In my last entry, I mentioned Talk's heel cracks, but they haven't gotten any worse and even have improved a bit, despite not being able to use his best salve.  I don't think they'll be a factor tomorrow. I really don't think there will be any issues other than how good the other horses are, relative to him, and what kind of trip(s) he gets.

"We were feted in fine style by our Scandanavian hosts in the night-before party, with the local musician playing "Born in the USA" for my girlfriend, Beth, and I to dance to. It was a wonderful night.  All of our friends are having a great time touring around, and it's game time. Tomorrow night after the race, we've been invited to Menhammar Stuteri, the stud farm near here, with a boat ride to Stockholm afterwards. I'm looking forward to it, with the caviat that even if the race goes well, the ferry will be fun.  I generally prefer to be pessimistic than to predict victory.

"There was a crowd of 23,000 people here today for the Sweden Cup, with the number expected to be significantly higher on Elitlopp day. I want to thank all the fans who have read and contributed to this blog.  If he wins the race, I'll try to dedicate a big mention to you if I get the chance.

"Thanks, and hope you can watch the race at the Meadowlands at 11:00.  Of course, Enough Talk has to make the final in order to appear on TV there.  I'll be back with post-race thoughts tomorrow night."

Brutal trip. The French got to him was kinda sad to see the #1 horse put the block on down the lane by drifting off rail & taking up 3 spots but what ya gonna do?

Enough talk showed he's one of the best in the world would of been nice to see how it would of ended up if there was a passing lane.

Great Job. Great racing. Cograts Pete & Luc & Enough Talk

I'm wishing Peter, Luc and Enough Talk the best of luck tomorrow. But win or lose, it sounds as if he's having s wonderful time. I'm jealous, and wish I could be there and cheer on all three of them (even though I bred the dam of Giant Diablo).
