Fab Five At Big M on Saturday

July 4th 2008

Good morning and Happy Birthday, America.

Check out Saturday night's entries from the Meadowlands. Is there a better quintet of races to start a card? In the first, in a 3-year-old open pace, you've got Riggins and Deuce Seelster and Bullville Powerful going up against whatshisname, Share the Delight-- a preview of a Pace elimination heat, for sure. In the second, you've got the makings of a competitive Standardbred Retirement Foundation race.

In the third, the first Haughton elimination, you've got Artistic Fella going up against Mister Big and Kenneth J. In the fourth, a 4-year-old-open pace, you've got Southwind Lynx against Spin Rate and Noble Falcon and Art at Heart. And in the fifth, the second Haughton elimination, you've got Always a Virgin up against Mr. Feelgood and Total Truth and Palone Ranger, the last two having made headlines recently for all the wrong reasons.

May the best horses win.

Wow.......they went some didn't they? Nice to see STD pace that smokin 49 and change and stay flat. Onward and upward Andrew.

From Andrew: Thanks, Mark. STD scoped sick after the race, which helps explain a little why he finished without his kick. But that Bullville Powerful is one helluva horse.

I see they've installed Share The Delight as the 2-1 favorite thanks to that big qualifier!

From Andrew: I am not a betting man but I don't believe it will end up that way at post time. As long as he paces flat we'll be happy. And hopefully then we can dream of the Pace itself.

Well, I guess if you wanted to test Share The Delight against some of the best, your wish was granted.

Best of luck.

Happy Fourth of July everyone.....

That's quite a racecard-too bad we have to rely on this blog and not the USTA or The Meadowlands to spread the word and promote viewership. The utter lack of inertia in marketing our best horses and races is dumbfounding.

Enough of my rant...I'll be glued to the screen watching the outcomes on Saturday. Good luck, Andrew, with STD. Looks like he's the early line favorite. May the race gods be with you.

Think we'll see a sub-48.0 mile in a Haughton elim? Should be some great racing.

From Andrew: Thanks, Tim. We'll see! We could use some racing luck.

You've got to like that John Campbell stuck with you over Deuce Seelster. That certainly says a lot. Good Luck!
