Good Piece on Good Horse: Daley Deposit Only

May 26th 2008

Carol Hodes, the doyenne of harness feature writers (and I say that in a good way) is at it again with a very good piece for Harnesslink on Daley Deposit Only and his trainer, Dan Daley. The colt was dead-game Saturday night at the Meadowlands in an elimination for the New Jersey Classic and figures to be one of the favorites this weekend in the final.

And, of course, we also like the horse and Carol's story because one of DDO's co-owners, Jared, is a First Over blogging stalwart. Good luck this weekend, Jared. And good luck, too, Mark Allen, who's Harley D. Hanover, who also figures to get a good long look in the final. Harley is a stablemate of Share the Delight at Linda Toscano's place.

Shaping up to be an exciting 3yo colt division....Its been quite a while since so many possible contenders are primed this early in the season. Should make for good racing all summer long. Good luck to those that are here and contributing.

Not to take anything away from the boys, but I'm pulling for a very capable 3yo Camluck filly who came back very strong this weekend to win her debut in the OSS.

Thanks Andrew! I'm booking my flight now. These next few weeks are going to be huge for us. Dan has really paid his dues in this business. He's been in it 30 years longer than me. I ALMOST feel undeserving to own a piece of such a great horse after only 3 yrs in the business. When I entered this game it was with the intention of leveraging Dan's experience, and it's working! This weekend, the folks on the farm in NC emailed pictures of Deposit's full brother, born just 6 days ago now. I believe he will be NY eligible, instead of NJ.

Andrew, I see your horse put in a blazing fast mile Saturday at the Meadowlands also. Perhaps we'll see each other in Canada in a couple weeks.

It also looks like Badlands Nitro will be a force to be dealt with!
