Harrah's Chester on EPO positives

Just received this email from Mike Tanner, racing executive at Harrah's Chester in Pennsylvania. Remember, Harrah's Chester is a private entity whereas the New Jersey tracks are operated by the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, a public agency.

From Tanner about the EPO positives for Adam and Slender:

"I know only what I've read today, so I can't comment on the specifics of the case. Effective immediately and pending the result of upcoming hearings, however, Harrah's Chester will not accept entries from trainer Ernest Adam and owner Stephen Slender. Similarly, the horses that were listed as testing positive for EPO will not be allowed to race at Harrah's Chester. We now have gone from celebrating a world record to questioning its veracity. It's the last thing the sport needs. We will meet internally on Wednesday to discuss other possible courses of action and will continue to monitor any further developments."

EPO certainly is a problem but it is not like it is not being addressed. The best the sport can do is construct a system to catch the offenders. These guys are being caught and punished. We have been making EPO a priority to maintain integrity in the sport. We don't like seeing offenders pop up but the system is working to some degree.

What is more damaging is people like Michael Rosenberg. He is a writer for the Detroit Free Press and contributor to Fox Sports. Below is the link to his contribution to Fox concerning the tragedy at this Saturday's Kentucky Dreby.

I can't find anything this man has ever written about horse racing. This is the kind of damage that stains this sport. Michael Rosenberg shows how little he knows and yet Fox prints this crap. After you read this story you will feel the ire that there is little room to write about here. Moreover, read through the nearly 4000 comments.

Michael Rosenberg knows nothing about horse racing. Why does he think that he should write about a subject that he has absolutely no knowledge of? I'd be willing to bet hard cash that he can't make his way through a scratch sheet. Michael Rosenberg, what do you know about horse racing? Here is the problem with the mainstream press. No one is allowed to question them. Michael, how long is a furlong? What is the name of the awards given to Horse of the Year? At what age does a horse retire? I know that he can't answer these simple questions. This dope is more poison to horse racing than EPO.
