Help Pick The Best Races This Weekend?

Good morning. If you had to make a list of the top five races you’d like to watch this weekend which would they be and why? I’m going to try to make this a Friday feature if enough of you respond by giving me your picks. I am sure you will tell me I am wrong-- duh!-- and I am especially interested in hearing from those of you who pay more attention than I do to tracks in Indiana and Illinois and Maine and Pennsylvania. Here are my picks :

Sixth Race at the Meadowlands on Friday, the first leg of the Su Mac Lad. I was there in person when Giant Diablo won at the Red Mile last fall. It was amazing. If this race is half as exciting it should be a thrill.

Second Race at the Meadowlands on Saturday, the Robert J. Suslow Final. I want to see Hands to Yourself and Idle Hour duke it out again like they did a week ago.

The eighth Race at Yonkers on Saturday, the Levy. Only six starters with old vet Mypanmar on the rail.

The twelfth Race at Northfield on Saturday, the Battle of Lake Erie (Plan B division). It’s always nice to see Tigarama south of the Canadian border.

The Ninth Race at Woodbine on Saturday. The 4-year-old Open features Mr. Saratoga, Keystone Matt, Stonebridge on Ice, Clowns Smile, and Camifications. They are competitive and very, very fast.

I saw the card at Chester today.....not too bad for opening day. The races were competitive for the most part and the crowd enjoyed a great sunny day.

One thing that annoyed me today...in one of the latter races on the card...the race with Southwind Tempo, Tim Tetrick's horse was acting stubbornly when he attempted to turn for the gate after the starter called them. After the marshall failed to turn him around and after Dave Miller tried to help persuade Tetrick's horse to turn the right way, Tetrick had to continue the wrong way back to the paddock at which time I thought the judges would've scratched his horse. 5 minutes later...he came charging out of the paddock with the groom running alongside of the horse and kept his horse going at a fast clip (think slow training mile speed) and came to the gate the opposite way( the same direction they race) after traveling almost half a mile ......expending precious energy that should've been used for the race. His horse hit the wall just past the 3/4 pole and was finished. How fair was this to the betting public that the judges didn't scratch the horse after he was acting unruly?
