How about a Big M Switcheroo?

April 30th 2008

Thursday morning at the Meadowlands, in the weekly qualifying races, will compete (in chronological order: Badlands Nitro, Genuwine, Meant to be Me, Riggins, Deuce Seelster, Rudy Rednose, Thong, JK Majorette, McArts and Crafts, Godiva Hall, Falls for You, Mythical Lindy, Corleone Kosmos, Arch Madness and many other gifted horses (including, full disclosure, a horse named Share the Delight, which I partially own). Here is where you can read the entries.

And here are entries for Thursday night's pari-mutuel card at the Meadowlands. Not to take anything away from the horses that are pacing and trotting tomorrow for purses but, honestly, which card would you prefer to watch? Betting or no betting, qualifying efforts or no, I'd take the matinee. You? Let me know.

Thanks, Aaron. We are pleased. Can't wait to see On the Brink and Dali go down the road, too. I guess today-- Friday-- sees many more good colts qualifying at Mohawk.

Looks like Share The Delight had an impressive qualifier, good luck with him Andrew.

Andrew, congratulations on Share The Delight's qualifier. 45 to 1 for the NA Cup? Our colt, Daley Deposit Only, is 60 to 1 for that race. No respect at all. We're staked to the triple crown, and Breeder's Crown as well. It's going to be an exciting season for us. He's going to qualify next Friday at Pompano, before he ships north. :)

By the way, I do go to qualifiers, both at Freehold and when they hold them at Gaitway Farms prior to the start of Meadowlands meets, but I do it primarily for handicapping purposes.

I love the qualifiers. Nothing like sitting outside with a cup of coffee watching the best in the business go by. You get a real feel for who is ready to race and who is not...so much more of a relaxed atmopsphere outside. Too bad if you are not a horseman, it is very difficicult to get into the Meadowlands at 10:00am

I vote for the regular race card. What are you going to see in the quallies? Top-shelf horses winning by the length of the stretch over lesser stock. A real yawner. Let me see them go at it tooth and nail in a real race.
