I am sorry I didn't get to this yesterday-- the darn day job got in the way-- but let's certainly have a shout out to Lonestar Legend, the Western Hanover colt who paced a monster mile at the Meadowlands' qualifiers Thursday morning. The colt went the mile in 150.4 with a last half in 53.4!!! And he is trained by Don Swick, who is an excellent trainer and a nice guy to boot.
I still don't understand the wicked qualifying times but clearly it's the "in" thing to do these days. Can't wait to see the horse race.

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that these fast qualifiers indicate that we are going to see some blazing fast times very soon. Some of these big races (NA Cup,etc) will see winning times of WELL UNDER 1:50! These horses that are qualifying around 1:51 and 1:52 will need to go several seconds faster to make any money. (as I mentioned a week or two ago). Provided he's healthy, I expect SBSW to go in 1:49, early in the season. The only question is,who else will be there with him? I hope yours and mine are right there!
