The latest from Mohawk courtesy of Kathy Parker

My beloved boss, Kathy Parker, just phoned from Mohawk Raceway (yes, duh, I am so jealous of her). She reports the apron is packed, there is a light breeze at the track, and that people, patrons, were lining up at 5 p.m. to get baseball caps commemorating the big event.

She also said, and I find this fascinating, that owners are making their way to the paddock to see Somebeachsomewhere in the flesh-- that's right, owners who have nothing to do with the NA Cup (and those that do) want to see what the fuss is all about. I don't blame them. I would be there myself if I got the chance. More in a bit on the first big race of the night.

Andrew, just the like boss, I'm watching the races from Mohawk under clear skies and a slight breeze. Oh wait, those are the fluorescent lights that are shining and that's the air conditioner that I need to turn down a bit--I'm in the office watching the festivities also via RTN in our comfortable and modern simulcast room. Will keep another eye open for you tonight, as well as my fingers ready and willing to write.
