Tiger Tony Tribute

Good Wednesday morning. Let me briefly here praise Tony Morgan, who won six races yesterday at Harrington Raceway. I admit right off the bat that I am biased in favor of Tony because-- and this is true you can look it up-- I have never lost a race in which he drove my horse. Last spring, he won every time he drove Wild Ride Hanover for us and even was able to take a leg of the New Jersey Sire Stakes in the fall on our behalf. He handled her great and I think he's one of the more underrated drivers in the sport.

Now I'll open it up to you. First, do you agree with me about Morgan. Second, if not, whom would you say is the most underrated driver? Third, who do you think is the most overrated driver? Be nice.

I agree, Tony is as good as they come. The thing that makes Tony so great, is that he is a true horseman as well, not just a Nascar driver in a sulky.

As far as other under rated drivers...Bruce Ranger comes to mind, not sure if Palone gets his fair share of noteriety (compared to Sears/Tetrick, etc). Andy Miller comes to mind as well.

Over rated drivers, I would have to say Pierce leads the pack there, Brennan is a little over rated for being such a cowboy, and I think Yannick is over rated, he drives certain horses well, but on a nightly basis, I have not been overly impressed

Morgan is certainly among the best and I don't think he's underrated at all. Perhaps some people discount his talent because he went against the Ocean Downs driving colony, but that same year he also drove against the best. I do consider Eric Goodell underrated. Maybe it's because he's only been with the best for about a year.

Overrated now? Ron Pierce. And that's not meant to be disrepectful of his work in earlier years.

Morgan is fantastic. He is as good as they come. A couple of underrated drivers are Jim Morand and Ross Wolfenden. They are as good as any and always return your horse in good shape for next week.
