Waiting for Godot-- and Big M results (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Naturally, five minutes after I posted this, the results came up online. But the piece is worth reading anyway because the track can and should do better.

Happy Thursday to you. Permit me to whine for a bit. It's now nearly 1pm EDT, nearly three hours after interesting, exciting qualifiers began at the Meadowlands. And yet the Big M's website has not yet posted a single result. This is not just a pedantic problem for me. Our horse was racing in the 6th qualifier and I would love to know how things went (our trainer, Linda Toscano, has many horses qualifying so she is off the hook as far as reaching out to me).

I'd also like to know how Always A Virgin did, and how Meant to Be Me and Moon Beam did, and how Blue York Yankee did. There were dozens of wonderful horses qualifying today and yet here we are, hours and hours later, with nary a peep from the Big M.

How hard is it, I ask, to post the results within an hour or so? Or, better yet, how hard would it be to stream video of the qualifiers live? I mean, can you imagine how many owners, trapped at their desks during the work day, would tune in? In this information age, the Big M is at the forefrong of online product-- it's generally very good. But in these instances it's not.

Thus endeth the whine. If any of you have figured out ways to more quickly get the scoop on Thursday mornings by all means let me know. Thanks

This is another place where the WEG does a great job. They have an announcer call every Q, even the painfully boring ones, unless you happen to own a horse racing. They also show the replays of the Q's the same evening after the regular race replays, it is very useful and encouraging. Also I have noted on a feww occasions what I take to be serious handicappers making notes off of the Q replays. So video streaming of hte Q's would be good for more than anxious owners!?!

While I agree with the idea of live video streaming, if you don't also have an announcer calling the quallies you won't know what's going on anyway with all the scratches and driver changes, drivers wearing training suits instead of racing colors, etc.

I think you are going a little overboard about the time it takes to update the Web site with results. There were 15 qualifiers, and people are busy charting, etc. Your "hours and hours later" comment is just a wee bit overstated. 1 pm is three hours after the quallies started, not three hours after they ended, and not three hours after your horse's race.

By the way...congrats on the big mile.

The results are there at a few minutes past 1 pm...maybe it was just a matter of your looking a minute or two early.

Congratulations, your horse won in 1:52.1 with a 26.2 last quarter.
