What we Can Learn from Cricket and Poker

Still convinced that the harness industry can't learn anything from the online and in-demand poker industry? Okay, then chew on this. We can learn from cricket, too. The Wall Street Journal Friday (thanks to Charles Geffen for the heads up) had this piece about how a new cricket league in India is trying to lure new fans to that ancient sport. It's worth a read, especially since it's available free on the Journal's site.

Here is an excerpt: "The Indian Premier League, which began its first season three weeks ago, is a massive departure for cricket. In the traditional format, team members dressed in white play eight hours a day for five days, with breaks for lunch and tea. In the new format, games last about three hours total. During breaks, spectators sing and dance along to Bollywood songs. One team flew in the Washington Redskins cheerleaders for three weeks to train its squad of dancers and perform at matches."

Whaddaya think about that?

My favorite winners circle picture was taken on a day when the Bud Girls were making a promotional appearance at the Meadowlands. We already know that the most famous horse ride of all time was made by Lady Godiva. I'll leave the rest to your imagination.
