Just had the good fortune to check out a preview of an important new book about the plight of wild horses in America. Yes, I know, it's a bit off the harness track but the book by Deanne Stillman is well-written and really informative.

 

The book is called "Mustang- The Saga of the Wild Horse in the American West" and it comes to bookstores in June (you can probably pre-order it now). What did I learn that I didn't know before? Well, for starters, I learned that President Richard M. Nixon was a big friend of the mustang. Who knew? Maybe if his men had sent the "Plumbers" to Liberty Bell instead of to the Watergate that night things would have come down differently for him and thie country.

 

Anyway, if you are looking for a good summer read-- check out the book.
