Market Share, the New Jersey-sired son of Revenue, will step up to the starting line in the tenth race on Friday night, June 21, 2013 at the Meadowlands, facing nine others in the $50,000 TVG/Meadowlands Free for All Trot.

Points will be earned in the event, along with other designated races, to determine who advances to the $500,000 final on November 30 at the Meadowlands.

The Dustin Jones-trained Wheelin N Dealin continued to prep for his 2013 campaign by trotting his second qualifying mile of the season Wednesday morning (June 19 at Mohawk Racetrack.

With regular pilot Sylvain Filion in the sulky, Wheeling N Dealin won by nine lengths, gate-to-wire, in 1:57.1.

Filion fired the three-year-old son of Cantab Hall out from post 6 and led by more than three lengths at the :28.4 quarter pole. Lawrence N. "Larry" Mallar, longtime race secretary at Roosevelt Raceway and later general manager of the Michigan Harness Horsemen's Association, died Wednesday, June 19, in Florida. He was 73.

Mr. Mallar was born in Maine and graduated from American International College in Springfield, Mass. He saw duty as race secretary at Rockingham Park, Laurel Raceway, Foxboro Raceway, Scioto Downs, Green Mountain Race Track and then Roosevelt Raceway for 18 years. During that time, he also handled racing duties at Goshen's Historic Track.

Hoosier Park Racing & Casino has moved the regularly scheduled Saturday qualifiers to Friday, June 21 this week. The Friday qualifiers will follow the normal 10:00 a.m. post time. Entries for the Friday qualifiers can be made to the Hoosier Park race office by 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 20.

Qualifiers will continue to follow a Wednesday and Saturday schedule throughout the remainder of the meet; with an estimated start time of 10 a.m. Horsemen are advised that the condition sheets and entries can be found on Hoosier Park's website at http://www.hoosierpark.com/.

It will be a big weekend for camels and ostriches in New York and New Jersey as the exotic animals will be on the racetrack at Vernon Downs, the Meadowlands and Tioga Downs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

On Tuesday, June 18, the Meadowlands Racetrack held a camel and ostrich racing preview event with local sportscasters including Steve Overmyer of CBS2 and Dyrol Joyner of PIX11. Both the camel and ostriches will be racing for charity on Saturday, June 22. The winning charities will receive $1,000 courtesy of the Meadowlands Racetrack.

After facing some of the best trotters in Europe in last month's Elitlopp, Arch Madness is back in the States and ready to tackle another tough group.

The 9-year-old Arch Madness, who was second in the Elitlopp for the second consecutive year, faces nine rivals in Friday's third round of the TVG Free For All Championship Series for older trotters at the Meadowlands Racetrack. The top point-getters in nine preliminary rounds will return for a $500,000 final on Nov. 30 at the Big M.

The combination of trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. and driver David Miller scored a pair of wins with the two fastest times in Stallion Series action for 3-year-old trotting fillies on Tuesday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. There were five divisions held on the night, each with a purse of $20,000.

The Miller-Morgan combo first scored with Choose Happy (Donato Hanover-Tady Strikes Again), whose winning time of 1:54.3 was a more than a second faster than the previous quickest winning time in the Stallion Series splits. Ronnie Wrenn Jr. drove six winners on Tuesday (June 18) at Northfield Park. Wrenn's winners included Village Boss ($4.00) in race two, Friskie Town ($2.10) in race five, Rosebud-Sharkalert ($5.00) in race nine, Rare Commodity ($15.00) in race 10, Ridge Park ($3.60) in race 11 and Goin Home Ray ($11.20) in race 14.
