Elegant Jenn launched a powerful first-over move through the slop that carried her to victory in the $28,100 final of the Maple Lane Trot for 3- and 4-year-old filly and mare trotters Thursday at The Meadows. Sent off at a generous 10-1, Elegant Jenn enjoyed the early moments of the race when she ducked and watched the morning line favorites, Go Get Blanche and Teagan, break stride. Their presence might not have mattered, as Elegant Jenn’s determined uncovered bid secured the race early. She triumphed in 1:59.4 over Nickie K and Illiad’s Lady.
Terry O’Brien drove the daughter of Pegasus Spur and owns with the 4 year old’s trainer, Candous O’Brien.
In the $20,000 Open/Preferred Handicap Trot, Adonis B and Tyler Stillings erased a 7 1/2-length deficit late to prevail by a head over Primo Spur in 1:56.2. Dyno Trevor was third. Adonis B slumped early in 2008 but regained his top form in conditioned ranks. He now has won three of his last four starts for trainer Mark Goldberg and owner Curby Stillings. (The Meadows)
