$100,000 DSBF finals held

Nearly $600,000 in total purses were up for grabs Wednesday at Harrington Raceway as four $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) finals were held, showcasing the first state's top bred 2 year olds.

Trevor Warwick and Peter George's Mr. Aviator ($5.20) received a two-hole trip with driver Kevin Sizer and edged by the favorite Jesse N Echo in the stretch for a 1:57.1 triumph in the pacing colt division. Trained by Warwick, the Badlands Hanover colt has three wins in six lifetime starts. Andiamo Subito was third.

The filly pacers offered the fastest division of the night with a 1:56.2 win by Joe and Joann Thomson's Free Admission ($3.20). Driver Steve Warrington sent the Dan Warrington trainee to the front where she would set all the fractions and coast to a two-length triumph over Love and Truth and Honeyland.

Meanwhile, Fred Brunner and Layhoon Brunner's Swissonian ($3.40), sired by CR Commando, and driver David Miller won virtually wire to wire in the colt trot for trainer Josh Green in 2:04.2. Secret Agent was second with Penn State Fan third.

On the filly side, Mist Stable's Twilight Mist ($5.80) remained undefeated in three lifetime starts with a 2:04.2 triumph for driver-trainer Jim Thompson. The CR Commando filly went right to the front and outlasted Devilish Miss and Ms. Virginia to the wire.

In two separate $20,000 consolation events, Badlands Hanover pacing colt Jesse's Bad Boy ($3.60), owned by Lester Walls and Jack Upchurch and Badlands Hanover pacing filly Richfromthestart ($3.40), owned by Freida Ivory, each won their divisions respectively.

Driver Steve Warrington won four races on the program. Also on the program, the nation's leading driver as well as Harrington's top reinsman was awarded the leading driver trophy. Tony Morgan has 171 wins going into Thursday's final day of the summer/fall meet. In the 2006 spring meet, he set a new record for most wins with 198. (Harrington)
