10 Sire Stakes at Scioto

Freshman colt and gelding trotters and pacers were featured at Scioto Downs Saturday night in five divisions of each of the Ohio Sire Stakes.

The top performance by the trotters was turned in by Trottin Troy, with Del S. Miller in the bike. The gelded son of Chip Chip Hooray went wire to wire, winning by 8 3/4 lengths in 2:00. It was the second win of the season in three starts for the homebred owned by Jean McKee and trained by Jim Arledge Jr.

Other division winners were Stone Wheels (Corleone) in 2:01.1 Chip Noble, Don’t Tell Master (Master Lavec) in 2:01.3 for Steve Carter and High Alert (Master Lavec) in 2:02 for Dan Reynolds. Results of the fifth division was not reported.

In just his second career start Tavis Lou, with Randy Tharps driving, went wire to wire, scoring by 6 1/4 lengths in 1:55.3, the fastest of the five pacing divisions. Brandon Piguet trains the On The Attack colt for breeder Marvin Gray, who shares ownership with Charles Purvis and James Davis.

Other division winners were Thatsafact (Market Report) in 1:57 for Jack Daley, KF St. Patrick (Nobleland Sam) in 1:57.1 for Russell Swartz, Lovers Concerto (Precious Bunny) in 1:57.3 for Gregory Bateson and Nite Train (Noble Return) in 1:57.3 for Fred Huff Jr.
