10 yards with Bradshaw

Return Home
December 01, 2004 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Maybe on next week's football pre-game show on the Fox network Terry Bradshaw will invite New York Jets wide receiver Wayne Chrebet to go "10 yards" with him. On last Sunday's pre-game show Bradshaw fired questions at Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme, who owns Thoroughbreds, including one that asked if he would prefer winning the Kentucky Derby or Hambletonian.

Small pictures of Derby winner Smarty Jones and Hambletonian champ Windsong's Legacy appeared on the bottom of the screen as Bradshaw asked the question, but they weren't up long as Delhomme didn't hesitate a second before he answered "Kentucky Derby, of course."

Delhomme, remember, talked about claiming a Thoroughbred the same day his Panthers lost Super Bowl XXXVIII to the New England Patriots 32-29 on a last-second field goal.

It is likely Chrebet would have answered "Hambletonian" to the same question. Chrebet owns Standardbreds as the Double Down Stable with Kevin McDermott training. After coming up unsuccessful to win the 2003 Hambletonian Oaks with Delmartha, a filly he had bought an interest in, Chrebet purchased Southwind Elian in a quest to win the 2004 Hambletonian. That too came up short when Southwind Elian made a break early in his elim and failed to make the final.
