Because of a Bon Jovi concert at the new Meadowlands Stadium Friday night, July 9, the Meadowlands Racetrack will have an afternoon post time of 1:10 p.m. for an 11-race card. The heat wave on the East Coast has relented a bit and the weather forecast for Friday afternoon calls for it to be 84 degrees and sunny at post time with an afternoon high of 89 degrees.
Guests at the Meadowlands will be able to receive a free Friday racing program. Highlighting the matinee card is a pair of $29,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes divisions for 2-year-old filly pacers, slated as the second and third races. There is a pair of $25,000 Three-Year-Old Open Trots also on the program, one for males and one for fillies. And two horses who competed in last Saturday’s Titan Cup will be in action in separate events, as Lanson drew post one in the eighth race, a $25,000 conditioned trot, and Corleone Kosmos landed post five in the 10th race, a $15,000 conditioned event.
