131-day meet for Windsor

A four-hour meeting of the Ontario Racing Commission Tuesday night has led to the approval of a 131-date meet at Windsor Raceway. The track has not held a live program yet in 2005 due to a lack of an approved license by the commission.



The track initially applied for 121 days, which was reduced to 112 in a second application. The track filed a third application last week that called for a 124-day meet to begin Jan. 19. The commission approved that schedule Tuesday night on two conditions: the track must add seven cards of racing and it must average 15 races per card over the entire 131-day meet.



Windsor must inform the commission by Thursday, Jan. 20, if it accepts or declines the ruling. If the track accepts the ruling it has been reported that it will race as early as Sunday evening, Jan. 23.
