Worldly Treasure, a full sister to Worldly Beauty, captured one of two eliminations for the Sweetheart Thursday night at the Meadowlands, taking her split by two lengths in 1:53.2. Wall Of Art took the first elim, also in 1:53.2.
Worldly Treasure, the betting favorite, was battling with Sttep Lively on the last turn, but the latter filly virtually turned right at the top of the homestretch and took herself out of the race after winning her first two starts.
Worldly Treasure, who is trained by Jeff Stafford, picked up her third win in six starts for breeder-owner White Birch Farm.
Wall Of Art, a filly by Art Major, popped out of the pocket at the three-quarater mark and paced home to her first victory of the season. Charles Connor Jr. trains the filly for owners W. Springtime Racing Stable--the group that campaigned the great filly Bunny Lake--and Shannon Brott.
The top five finishers in each Sweetheart elimination advance to the final.
