Honorable Daughter tops quartet of Oaks elims: The Hambletonian Oaks drew the most entries in
its 38-year history, with 32 fillies stuffing the entry box and forcing
four eliminations. All eliminations will be raced Saturday night, Aug.
1 at the Meadowlands, with a 7 p.m. post time.
The quartet of eliminations means that competition for a starting spot in the final will be fierce. Only the first two from each elimination earn the right to advance along with the two richest fourth-place finishers. Notables among the fillies entered include freshman divisional champion Honorable Daughter, who put together a pair wins before finishing fifth in the Del Miller Memorial final in her last start. She drew post two in the second elimination. Canadian Breeders Champion Elusive Desire, drew post two in the first elimination.
