2 year olds shine at Dover

Fast Ruffles coasted to a Dover Downs track record 1:52.4 victory in the $189,225 Matron final for 2-year-old filly pacers Saturday night. Driven by Ron Pierce, Fast Ruffles drew away from her competition to win by 4 3/4 lengtghs over runner-up Crystal Slipper (Cat Manzi) with Arts Bid (Andy Miller) third.



A daughter of Western Hanover trained by Brett Pelling and owned by Lew Arno and Fred Hertrich III, Fast Ruffles won for the sixth time in 10 career starts.



Winless in eight career starts heading into the $189,450 Matron final for 2-year-old filly trotters, Ladymatic was able to break her maiden with a come-from-behind 1:57.4 effort for driver George Brennan.



Brennan moved Ladymatic three wide at the three-quarters and the daughter of Muscles Yankee was able to rush past the leading Solveig (David Miller) to get the victory. Flawless Bluestone finished third for John Campbell.



Ladymatic is trained by Larry Rathbone for owner M And L Of Delaware Inc. She had only two seconds and two thirds to show for her first eight attempts, but was coming off a good second-place effort behind Solveig in last week's Matron elim.
