Trainer Bruce Saunders had his weekend of racing start of right as his 2-year-old pacing colt Lookinforadventure blazed to a 1:52.2 win in a New Jersey Sire Stakes at the Meadowlands Friday night. On Saturday, Saunders will send out Rock N Roll Heaven, the morning-line favorite, in the North America Cup.
Driven by John Campbell, Lookinforadventure was third-over through fractions of :27.4, :55.3 and 1:24.2 before winning by two lengths over Grams Legacy.
Lookinforadventure is a son of Rocknroll Hanover-Student Driver (by Jate Lobell). Saunders trained Student Driver as a 4 and 5 year old, then bought this colt on behalf of Frank Bellino (who also owns Rock N Roll Heaven) at last fall's Lexington Selected Sale, bidding $85,000.
Grams Legacy, the runner-up, is by Rocknroll Hanover and out of million-dollar winner Kikikatie.
The second NJSS colt split went to Its Rock N Roll, who was bred and is driven by Brian Sears. Sears now owns the Rocknroll Hanover colt in partnership with Carter Racing Stable, Curtis Larrimore, and retired New York Jets player Wayne Chrebet. George Teague Jr. trains the colt.
One division for pacing fillies competed and Ivana Dance, yes, another royally-bred offspring by Rocknroll Heaven, won in 1:55.3. Ivana Dance is out of the top race filly and producer Town Pro, the dam of Darlins Delight. White Birch Farm bred and owns Ivana Dance while the filly is trained by jeff Stafford, who also conditioned Darlins Delight for White Birch.
