Tyrant Hanover pulled off an upset win in 1:51.1 to highlight Pennsylvania Sire Stakes action on Saturday afternoon at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. There were three divisions of the stakes races for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers.

Tyrant Hanover went off at 13-1, and watched from the middle of the pack as Eckstrom set the pace. Things opened up when Eckstrom made a break on the final turn, and driver Joe Pavia, Jr. gunned Tyrant Hanover, trained by Mark Ford, up the passing lane to get the win. Sea Dragon finished second and Texas Shootout was third.

Driver Dave Palone kept his hot hand going in stakes at Pocono by winning the first division aboard Sandro Hanover. Sandro Hanover, trained by Mickey Burke, wore down pacesetter Ideal Michael on the outside before prevailing in 1:51.1. Ideal Michael settled for second with Hamilton third.

Keystone Eli posted the day’s fastest stakes-winning time, grinding first-over for a win in the final division in 1:51. Yannick Gingras did the driving for trainer Ross Croghan. Sahara Hall got up late for second with Wiggle Out Of This finishing third.

Tyrant Hanover is owned by J & J Como Jr. Inc. of Towaco, NJ. George Leon of Pittsburgh, PA and Dean Davis of Wooster, OH own Sandro Hanover, while Keystone Eli is owned by Hei H. Mitchell of Lake View Terrace, CA. (Pocono Downs press release)
