The red hot Oscar Oscar ran his career unbeaten streak to five with a punishing 1:52.1 effort in one of two $20,000 divisions in the opening leg of the Ontario Sired Spring Series for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers on Friday at Woodbine Racetrack while his stablemate Blue Suede Shoes stopped the clock in 1:51. Both colts are conditioned by Tracy Brainard.

Oscar Oscar took his time leaving the gate for driver Mark MacDonald before quarter-pole moving to command in the second quarter. After leading the field through the first three-quarters in a leisurely 1:26, the son of Western Terror - Cup Of Jo kicked away powerfully from his rivals with a :26.1 final panel.

His stablemate, Power Off, came on late to pick off Pepsi North America Cup eligible Mr Terror for the place spot. The winner returned just $2.50.

The victory improved Oscar Oscar’s bankroll to just over $62,000 for the Bulletproof Enterprises of Boca Raton, Florida.

In the opening split, Blue Suede Shoes employed similar tactics for driver Jody Jamieson and was able to hold off race favorite Midnite Romp by half a length, with Pictonian Pride landing the show spot.

The victory was the second in six tries this season and a new lifetime mark for the son of Grinfromeartoear - Touch Dancing, who is also owned by Bulletproof Enterprises. He returned $8.30 for the win.

The Ontario Sired Spring Series will continue next Friday night. (WEG)
