U Toe The Bike ($93.80), the longest shot on the tote board at odds of 45-1, swept three-wide from sixth place on the final turn and closed with a burst of speed to nip Muscle Boss Vita at the wire to win the $8,250 Preferred II Handicap Trot by a nose at Pompano Park Harness Track Wednesday. Amazing Hanover was third.

The trot started with Country Tim (Walter Ross Jr.) going to the early lead from the rail with JJ Hergert (Mike Deters) grabbing the two-hole seat. But that was short lived as by the opening quarter mile in :28.2., driver Tom Sells had Muscle Boss Vita on the move and in the lead.

Muscle Boss Vita led the field to the half-mile mark in :57.4 as Amazing Hanover and driver Bruce Ranger came first-over and began working their way toward the front to challenge the pacesetter. Break Through (Daryl Bier) was second-over and following their outside cover in sixth place was U Toe The Bike and driver John Kakaley.

Past the three-quarter mile mark in 1:26.4, Muscle Boss Vita was still in command as Kakaley swung to the outside and urged U Toe The Bike three-wide.. As the field started down the stretch, Kakaley kept after U Toe The Bike and they were able to nip Muscle Boss Vita at the finish in 1:56.

It was the sixth win this year for U Toe The Bike. The 6-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Corleone is trained by Tom Beckette and is owned by Jean Bryar of Pompano Beach.

Tweedle Dum had little trouble becoming the winningest horse at Pompano Park this year, posting his fifth straight win and 10th of the season with a 1 3/4-length 1:54.2 triumph in the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot.

After three-quick lead changes before the opening quarter mile by Damon Runyon (Wally Hennessey), then Ultimate Sundance (Bruce Ranger) and finally Tweedle Dum, driver Walter Ross, Jr. was able to hold the field at bay through fractions of :27.2, :56.4 and 1:26 as Tweedle Dum had little trouble wiring the field.

A winner now in nine of his last 10 starts, Tweedle Dum is trained by Gordon Norris and owned by his wife Diane and Alfred Brotter of Pompano Beach.
