50-50 vote in Florida

With more than 6.8 million votes cast--98 percent of Florida's precincts reporting--the vote for Amendment 4 is virtually a tie with the amendment losing by less than 7,000 votes.



Amendment 4 would allow voters in Broward and Miami-Dade counties to vote in separate referendums to allow slot machines at the seven horse and dog tracks and jai-alai frontons in the counties. The vote is currently a 50-50 tie at 3,421,623 against and 3,415,096 for, and if the margin of victory is one-half of one percent or less, a machine recount is mandated.
