$50 million check ready

Robert Soper, president and CEO of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, will present Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell with a ceremonial check for $50 million, as Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs becomes the first operation in the state to pay the fee for a gaming license.

This fee also represents the first payment made by a gaming entity to the state of Pennsylvania and is designed to help make property tax reform a reality. This fee must be paid prior to the opening of any gaming operation.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will celebrate its Grand Opening on Tuesday, Nov. 14, with a ceremony at 9:30 a.m. and doors opening at 10 a.m., pending final approval by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
