6 straight for Artistic Fella

Artistic Fella extended his winning streak to six when he won the $75,100 New Jersey Sire Stakes final Saturday night at the Meadowlands. A strong stretch rally that put him at the wire in 1:50.1, defeating Pownal Bay Matt.

Green Sign, a 3-year-old Life Sign gelding, was the pacesetter until late in the race, setting splits of :26.4, :54.4 and 1:22.2. He was unchallenged until Artstanding, driven by Yannick Gingras, was forced first-over before the half.

Artstanding held his ground through the final turn, but faded in the stretch drive. Artistic Fella briefly bore in on JK CU Later, but straightened out as the wire loomed ahead.

Cat Manzi drove Artistic Fella for trainer Steve Elliott and owner Joseph Alborano. The 3-year-old Pacific Fella colt’s next goal will be the Meadowlands Pace.
