The Tattersalls July Mixed Meadowlands Sale was held in the race paddock at the East Rutherford, N.J., track Sunday, July 16, with 102 horses generating sales of $1,290,100 on the steamy afternoon. Last year’s sale included the 2004 Two-Year-Old Filly Pacer of the Year Restive Hanover, who went through the ring to dissolve a partnership and fetched a $230,000 bid from one of her owners.

This year’s sale had no such headliner as. Instead the strength of the sale was the pacing horse market. It included four horses which brought bids of $50,000 to $95,000.

The sale topper was Ideal Michael, a 3-year-old gelded son of The Panderosa, who changed hands with a $95,000 bid by trainer Mark Silva, who was acting as agent for Bell Valley Farm.

Consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing for owner Jeffrey Snyder, Ideal Michael is eligible to many major stakes this season. He had competed in the North America Cup and then won two overnights in Ontario, including one in 1:52.2 just a week before the sale.

Another 3 year old, Poker Dice, was purchased for $70,000 by trainer Mickey Burke, who was also acting as agent. The Cam’s Card Shark colt was a recent winner in 1:52.1 and was also consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing.
