Bigmizndrstnding scored the first victory of his 2010 campaign in Monday’s $13,500(C) Preferred Pace at Western Fair Raceway.

Mike Sumner put the 5-year-old son of No Pan Intended on the front from the start and never looked back to win in 1:57.3. Oakley Seelster, the winner in this class last week, sat second most of the race and came within a nose of the winner but had to be content with second. Pacific Oak was third.

Bigmizndrstnding now has one win, three seconds and three thirds in nine trips behind the gate this year for $21,306 in earnings. Owned by breeder Bill Boden and Larry Ainsworth, and trained by Ainsworth’s son, Jim, Bigmizndrstnding upped his lifetime bankroll to $221,786 with Monday’s effort.

The co-featured $13,500(C) Preferred Trot saw millionaire Abbey Road C in command for most of the mile but he could not hold off a determined Power Shot who got up for Brad Forward to win in 1:59.2. Abbey Road C held for second while Connected Yankee took third.

It was the second win in eight starts this year for Power Shot, a 6-year-old gelding by Via Blaze owned by Keith Cassell. A regular on the WEG circuit, Power Shot was making his first appearance at Western Fair since this time last year. (Western Fair)
