A bruiser of a win at Wdb

Ramegade Bruiser took the early lead and never looked back to take the $53,400(C) final of the Ontario Boys Pacing Series Monday night at Woodbine. Mark MacDonald drove the 4-year-old Rambaran gelding to a half-length win over John Dilinger in 1:54.1. Stonebridge Wish was third, beaten 6 1/4 lengths.

Ramegade Bruiser went out to a snappy early split of :27.3 and half mile in :55.4, hounded by odds-on favorite Pacific Oak. Around the turn, the bay disposed of his rival, but a fresh foe, John Dilinger, was on the scene through 1:24.3. John Dilinger had a shot, but could not gun down Ramegade Bruiser in the lane.

MacDonald, who guided the bay Ontario bred to his second tally of the season and 13th lifetime for owner-trainer Dave Brown of Sunderland, said Ramegade Bruiser was all heart in the $53,400 event.

“He’s a gutsy little fella, he’s only a small horse too,” MacDonald said. “He sure dug deep when I asked him too.”

It was $26,700 payday for Ramegade Bruiser, who now has career earnings of $147,299(C). (WEG)
