Hambletonian hopeful Adrian Chip was beaten by the 3-year-old Malabar Man-sired colt Artistic As at the Solvalla racetrack in Stockholm on Sunday. Artistic As, who was trained by Trond Smedshammer in 2006, won by one length over Adrian Chip in a mile rate of 1:56.2.
Adrian Chip, who is owned by a partnership group that includes NHL hockey star Peter Forsberg, started from post eight and was sent to the lead by driver Robert Bergh, but never was able to clear to the front.
Last year Adrian Chip finished third in the Breeders Crown at Woodbine for trainer Per Henriksen. Artistic As posted his best finish in stakes action when he took third behind Quite Easy in the International Stallion Stakes at The Red Mile.
