A dynamic win at Pompano

Armbro Dynamic ($6.80) lived up to his name Saturday at the Isle Pompano Park, taking a lifetime mark with a dynamic stretch drive in holding off race favorite I Can Only Imagine to win the $16,000 Open Pace.

Driven by Wally Hennessey, Armbro Dynamic started from post four in the third race feature pace and shot right to the early lead with I Can Only Imagine and driver Bruce Ranger getting the two-hole trip in second place. Through fractions of :27.1, :56 and 1:23.4, Armbro Dynamic led the field and I Can Only Imagine stalked the pacesetter in second place. Hero and driver Anthony Napolitano tried a first-over attempt in the backstretch but could not collar the race leaders.

Then as they turned and started down the stretch, Ranger made his move with I Can Only Imagine and they came after Armbro Dynamic and Hennessey but Armbro Dynamic dug in with a :27.4 last quarter mile and held game to the wire, winning by only a head in 1:51.3. Eleven AM (Denis St Pierre) was third.

A 5-year-old stallion by Western Hanover, it was the seventh win this year for Armrbo Dynamic. Owned by Rod Lorenzo and Souren Hovsepian of Deerfield Beach, Armbro Dynamic is trained by Michile Lorenzo. (Pompano Park)
