A dynamic win at Pompano before races canceled

Armbro Dynamic lived up to his name on Saturday at Pompano Park, with a dynamic performance in the Open Pace, leading from start to finish in a lifetime-best clocking of 1:51.4.

The third-race feature saw Armbro Dynamic and driver Wally Hennessey move right to the lead from the rail and never look back. With race favorite Paper Luck (Bruce Ranger) sitting right on their backs, Armbro Dynamic cut fractions of :27.2, :56 and 1:24 to the three-quarters and then kicked in the afterburners with a :27.4 last quarter to win by two open lengths. Paper Luck was second with Cape Karuna (Walter Ross Jr.) third.

It was the second straight win for Armbro Dynamic, a 5-year-old stallion by Western Hanover, who is trained by Michile Lorenzo and is co-owned by Rod Lorenzo and Souren Hovsepian.

There were two $4,500 divisions of the second round of the 16th annual Gator Pacing Series for 2-year-old Florida-sired colts and geldings.

The first non-wagering division saw a classic battle to the wire as Tough Cassidy (Jay Sears) got a perfect pocket trip behind pacesetter Storming Howard (Ranger), pulling to challenge in the stretch with Tough Cassidy getting up at the wire by a neck in 1:58.2. Gavino (Robert Roberts) was third.

A brown gelding by Tough Sir from the Albert Albert mare Small Change, Tough Cassidy is a homebred owned by Jay and Kim Sears and trained by Kim Sears.

In the first-race second division of the Gator Series, Time To Scoot ($2.80) remained unbeaten in his early career with his second straight win. The brown colt by Scoot Outa Reach-Nova Ruby led from start to finish for driver Hennessey, winning with ease by three-quarters of a length in 1:58.3 over the pocket sitting Tough Chip (Robert Roberts) and Valentine’s Gator (Tom Lehmann).

Trained by Marc Aubin and bred by Anthony Amante and Christine Garrity, Time To Scoot is owned by the Amante Standardbreds Inc.

Due to continued technical difficulties spanning from a lightning strike on the main transformer for the racetrack lights, live racing was canceled after the fifth race on Saturday. (Pompano Park)
