Game Speed climaxed a big night for the Callahan family by winning the $13,200 Delaware trot feature over a "sloppy" track on Thursday at Dover Downs. Corey Callahan drove four winners; his father owned and trained three of them. On a night that started with a short blizzard-like snow shower that turned into a drizzle with slightly higher temperatures, Callahan, the third leading driver at the meet, piloted Game Speed to a 1:58.3 victory in the night's top trot. The 9-year-old daughter of the late Program Speed held off fast charging Renegade Dream, second, and Tug River Man (Ross Wolfenden), third. The victory elevates Game Speed's career bankroll to $205,025.
Jonathan Roberts left fastest driving Gateway Stable's Reverse The Curse to get the lead. After disposing of Coletown USA (George Dennis), after a mid mile challenge, the 4-year-old Armbro MacKintosh gelding sped to a lifetime-best 1:54 victory in an $11,000 pace. Indian Peaks (Jim Morand) was second best. Dragon's Blood (Tony Morgan) finished third. Catch driver Eddie Davis Jr. and Occasionally Bad teamed for a 6-1 victory in a $10,800 Delaware mares pace for breeders-owners Allan Pullman and Barry Glickstein. Grande Dame (Morgan) broke stride at the start and then rallied to finish second. Emma Rose Ben (Sam Belote) took third. In his first start, and now only start, for Cantwell Bridge Stable, Kilkerran Scot, a 5-1 shot in a $25,000 claiming pace with Brandon Givens in the bike, scored a 1:55.2 triumph. The winner was again claimed for the fourth straight time. Real Good Thing (Callahan) was next. Tristate Hanover (Roberts) was the show horse. The win was the second of the day for Cantwell Bridge Stable and trainer Bobby Clark. Morgan, Wolfenden, Morand, Givens and Roberts had driving doubles. (Dover Downs)
