Alexis Hall turned in another solid off-the-pace effort in Thursday's second leg of the Damsel Pacing Series at Woodbine Racetrack and, in the process, put herself in position for a series sweep in next week's final. After scoring from behind last week in her first start of the campaign, the daughter of Cambest-Duncans Artsplace was once again taken off the early speed by driver Keith Oliver and watched as Bouncing Hanover put up the first quarter of :27.1. Sugar Park took over command from the first leader just past the quarter and then yielded to an onrushing Queen Of Royalty just before the half in :56.2. The new leader then faced pressure from first-over attacker Crystal Chris. Meanwhile, Apple Delight was following her cover outside fourth with Alexis Hall riding her helmet in sixth. The field passed three-quarters in a 1:24.3 and then faced the wrath of a strong west wind in the homestretch. By that point, Crystal Chris had worked her way to the front with Apple Delight rolling three wide and Alexis Hall in close pursuit. In the late stages, Alexis Hall proved too much for her rivals and easily powered past for the win. Crystal Chris held bravely for second while Apple Delight and Sugar Park rounded out the top four. Alexis Hall returned $4.30 for the victory. The Gary Wallace-trained Alexis Hall is now two-for-two to start the campaign for owner Liam Wallace of Troy, Ont. The lion's share of the $35,000(C) purse moved her well past the $150,000 mark lifetime. The $70,000 Damsel Series final for the 3 -and 4-year-old fillies and mares goes next Thursday night at Woodbine. (WEG)
