All-star qualies at Big M

The Meadowlands hosted 14 qualifiers Thursday morning featuring a bevy of 2005 stars making their return to the track, most notably Boulder Creek and Cabrini Hanover.

In the first qualifier, Wherley stepped off a 1:58.4 mile, finishing fourth. Last year, the 3-year-old filly by Dream Vacation took a mark of 1:58.2 and earned $182,328.

In the fourth qualifier, two-time Breeders Crown winner and 2005 Older Male Pacer of the Year Boulder Creek crossed the line first in 1:52. The 6-year-old gelding by Pacific Rocket has earned $2,210,766 lifetime with a mark of 1:48.1. Breeders Crown elim winner Up Front Charlie p,3, 1:50.1 ($314,888) was fourth in 1:53.2.

Cabrini Hanover p,2, 1:51 ($1,294,790) finished second in the fifth qualifier, timed in 1:51.1. The 4-year-old mare by Western Ideal took last year’s Tarport Hap, Fan Hanover, Nadia Lobell, Bluegrass, and Glen Garnsey Stakes en route to Three-Year-Old Filly Pacer of the Year honors. Illinois champ Brianna Joy p,3, 1:49.3 ($335,339) finished third in 1:51.2.

Western Cyclone returned in the sixth qualifier with a 1:55 clocking with Brian Sears aboard. The 3-year-old son of Western Hanover earned $310, 056 last year and holds the distinction of being the only horse to beat 2-year-old champ Jereme’s Jet.

Bluegrass winner Perfect Union took the seventh qualifier with a 1:55 clocking. The 3-year-old son of The Panderosa paced in 1:52.1 and earned $211,062 last year. New Jersey Sires Stakes winner Artstanding p,2, 1:52.2 ($383,967) was second by a neck.

Muscle Memory, who took third in last year’s Hambletonian, finished second in the ninth qualifier, timed in 1:55.

Palone Ranger p,2, 1:51.3 ($385,757) took the 11th qualifier in 1:52.1.

Pennsylvania Sires Stakes winner and Matron runner-up Armbro Dancer p,2, 1:52.3 ($178,028) finished first in the final qualifier in 1:54.4.
