Allmar Surprise lowers Harrington track record

August 20, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Victor Kirby and Matthew Ivory’s Allmar Surprise ($2.60, Kirby) set a new track record for 4 year olds and all-age mares with a 1:55.3 win in the $21,700 Junior Open Trot on Wednesday at Harrington Raceway.

The 4-year-old Angus Hall mare set all the fractions in her three-length win over Spunky Vic and Lt’s Best. "Surprise" had just set a track record for 4 year olds on July 30 when she won the $30,000 Charles Murphy Jr. Memorial in 1:56.3. She has now banked more than $94,000 in 2009. Kirby also trains the trotting mare, who he acquired in 2008.

Drivers Vince Copeland and Tony Morgan each had three driving wins. (Harrington)
