All Spirit and Jimmy Marohn Jr. equaled the Tioga Downs track record for 4-year old pacing mares on Friday night in 1:52.1, equaling the mark set by Tug River Princess in the Artiscape final in 2009.
Marohn backed All Spirit off the gate to settle in sixth as Bet The Ranch cut out fractions of :26.4 and :55.2 before Ubetterthink Think (Mike Micallef) tried a first-over challenge reaching the three-quarters in 1:23.3. Marohn tipped All Spirit three wide off cover around the last turn and paced head-and-head with Ubetterthink Think in the stretch to win by a nose in 1:52.1.
Tim Lanpher trains the 4-year old daughter of Bettor’s Delight-Spirit Of Ivy for Larry Lanpher of Winter Park, Fla. It was the second win in three starts for All Spirit, who increased her career earnings to more than $206,000, and established a new lifetime mark with the mile.
