Allstar Hall, a $270,000 Walnut Hall Ltd.-bred yearling purchase, won his career debut in impressive fashion Friday night at The Red Mile, capturing a Kentucky Fair Stakes contest by 15 1/2 lengths in 2:01.4. With Annette Lorentzon driving, the Like A Prayer half brother to standout performers Andover Hall, Angus Hall and Conway Hall cruised to the win on the opening night card of the season at the famed clay oval.

Lorentzon, who shares ownership of the colt out of the mare Amour Angus with her father, John Erik Magnusson, as ACL Stuteri Inc. of Paris, Ky., also trains. She prepped the freshman colt with qualifiers at Scioto Downs and Indiana Downs.

Also winning on the 14-race card was Be As You Are, a Like A Prayer half sister to Donerail, who rallied past the leading Corinth in mid stretch to go on to an easy 2:03.3 victory. Driven by Mike Zeller for owner Dr. James Sautter, who paid $45,000 for the 2 year old as a yearling, Be As You Are was making her career debut after a 2:08 winning effort in a fair contest at The Red Mile May 29. She is named for one of country singer Kenny Chesney's hit songs.
