All wet in Midnight Mile

January 01, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Sweeping three wide from eighth place after the half-mile pole, driver Anthony Napolitano was able to guide Weathers Wet to a 1 3/4-length victory in the Midnight Mile at Pompano Park on Saturday night.

The time of 1:57.1 tied the race record set by Docs Able and Napolitano's older brother, George Jr., in 2004. The Midnight Mile is the world's only horse race which spans two years. It started at 11:59 p.m., in 2005, and ended in 2006.

"What a great way to end 2005 and start 2006," Anthony Napolitano said. "I'm just proud that I was able to start off the year with a winning drive, and hope it continues throughout the season."
