Almost A Lady took advantage of a perfect two-hole trip to score a mild upset in Friday night's Ontario Girls Pacing Series at Woodbine, and tt was an emotional win for the connections as regular driver Jack Moiseyev had to book off after suffering the loss of his father Sid earlier in the day at age 73.
Phil Hudon picked up the driving assignment for the single $18,000 division in the second round of the series, and he worked out a dream trip for Almost A Lady, a daughter of Astreos-Best Lady. She followed Goldies Cam until the midway point of the stretch before pulling out to win in 1:54.1.
It was the first victory of the season in seven starts and a new lifetime mark for Almost A Lady, who is trained by Frank Colville. Moiseyev's partner, Joanne Colville, shares ownership of the mare with her daughter Emma Christoforou and Sigrid Velten of Ontario.
The final of the Ontario Girls Pacing Series will be contested next Friday night at Woodbine. (Woodbine)
