Always A Virgin, who has won six of his last seven starts including victories in the Oliver Wendell Holmes and the Battle of the Brandywine, is an overwhelming 3-5 favorite in the second of three future wagering pools for the 2007 Little Brown Jug.
Southwind Lynx is next at odds of 9-1 while North America Cup winner Tell All and 2-year-old Breeders Crown champion Charley Barley, who hasn’t started in 2007, are 13-1. For the first time ever a filly, Southwind Tempo, is among the 3-year-old pacers listed in the 23 future book entries. Southwind Tempo closed at odds of 50-1. The second future pool closed Sunday after four days of betting action at racetracks across North America and several internet sites. Little Brown Jug Marketing Director Phil Terry said wagering on the second pool was up over the first pool and higher than 2006 totals. The final future wagering pool will begin Sunday, Sept. 16, through 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19. This is during the first four afternoons of Grand Circuit racing at the Delaware, Ohio County Fair.
On tap this weekend are the $100,000 Cane Pace eliminations. Should a horse win the Cane who is not eligible to the Little Brown Jug he can be supplemented into the September 20th Delaware Classic. Jug Future Pool No. 2
