Always A Virgin gave Brian Sears one of his five winners on the Saturday night Meadowlands card when took the lead in the stretch and coasted to a 1:49.3 victory in the $32,000 Open Pace for 4 year olds.
Kenneth J finished second and edged Spin Rate by a nose. Sears also won races 3, 5, 8 and 9 on the program.
“It was a good effort and he’s coming along very well,” Sears said of the winner. “He’s right where we want him to be.” Trained by Joe Holloway, Always A Virgin is a 4-year-old son of Western Ideal. He has won two of three starts this year and is preparing for upcoming stakes action. “He’s getting a week off until the [William R.] Haughton elimination in July,” Holloway said.
