Always A Virgin's book full and closed

February 13, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Victory Hill Farm of Indiana, along with the owners of Always A Virgin, have announced that the stallion’s book for his 2009 breeding season is full and closed. The stallion's stud fee for his first season was set at $3,500.

“We have never had this number of contracts returned in January and February. To my knowledge, a farm in Indiana has never closed a stallion’s  book because the book was full. We have been thrilled by the reception he has received,” said Maria King of Victory Hill Farm.

“People are definitely intrigued by the Indiana program, both the Breeder’s Awards and the Sire Stakes. We feel that Always A Virgin is positioned to be a real force in the state as well as the stakes events throughout North America,” added Bob Boni, one of the owners of the son of Western Ideal.

Victory Hill has reported that several major breeding farms have booked mares, including Hanover Shoe Farms, Andray Farm, Roll The Dice Stable, Val D’or Farms and Bluestone Farms.

Trained by Joe Holloway, Always A Virgin won 13 of 20 starts in 2007 and $1,022,703 while defeating every top colt of his generation. He won the Messenger and Cane Pace, both in stakes record time, along with the New Jersey Sires Stakes final, Holmes, Bluegrass and Battle of Brandywine, in addition to eliminations of the Cane, Messenger, Meadowlands Pace, Little Brown Jug and Breeders' Crown. He paced to his record 1:48.4 at the Meadowlands.
