The owners of Always A Virgin have announced that he will race again in 2008 and Bob Boni of Northwood Bloodstock, one of the owners of Always A Virgin, is optimistic that the colt will come back even stronger.
"We are all very excited about racing again next year and adding to his resume," said Boni. "This past year was a mixture of brilliant performances and some very bad luck. The step from three to four is a tough one, but he is an exceptional young pacer and we're not going to shy away from a challenge.“ Always A Virgin won 13 of 20 starts in 2007 and $1,022,703. He won the Messenger Stake and Cane Pace (in stakes record time), New Jersey Sires Stakes final, Holmes, Bluegrass, Battle of the Brandywine, eliminations of the Cane, Messenger, Meadowlands Pace, Jug and Breeders Crown. The betting favorite in his last 17 starts, he paced to his record 1:48.4 in winning a Meadowlands Pace elimination. "We hope that Always A Virgin can follow in the footsteps of horses like his sire Western Ideal, Artsplace, Jenna's Beach Boy, and come back to dominate at four. It should be fun,” commented Joe Holloway, Always A Virgin’s trainer. "We're looking to race whereever and whenever we can, small or large track, U.S. or Canada," remarked Mitchel Skolnick of Bluestone Farms, who co-owns Always A Virgin with Joe Hurley, Marty Granoff, Lynn Jones, Boni and Stuart Hankin.
