The draw for the 2009 Elitlopp, to be contested next Sunday, was held Sunday, May 24, and was telecast live on Swedish TV4 Channel and the US trotters were lucky, with Enough Talk drawing post three in the first elim and Buck I St Pat drawing the rail in the second split.

If a horse wins both an elim and the final, the owners will take home approximately $250,000.

The Elitlopp is contested at a distance of a mile over the five-eighths mile oval at Solvalla racetrack in Stockholm. The two early-race favorites, Russel November, who won the Oslo Grand Prix, and the French trotter Oiseau de Feux, drew outside post positions in the first elim, which will put them in the position of having to use their speed early.

Buck I St Pat, Jaded and Nimrod Borealis are considered the top three contenders in the second elim. Buck I St Pat's trainer, Ron Burke, indicated he was happy to have the pole post position.

Another entry with American connections is Lisa America, who is trained by Jerry Riordan and owned by Lou Guida. Riordan trains the mare is Italy. However, she is only 4 years old, and the last 4 year old to win the Elitlopp was Guida's world champion Mack Lobell.

The last three invitations to the race were accepted by the connections of Lisa America, Jaded and Sahara Dynamite. Standpoint, who won the Gold final on Saturday, was also invited, but his trainer, Stig Johansson, chose to decline.
