American Ideal out of CPD

June 13, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

American Ideal, the powerful 4-year-old son of Western Ideal, has been scratched out of his Canadian Pacing Derby elimination this Saturday evening at Woodbine apparently due to lameness. The Casie Coleman-trained bay last raced on June 10 at Woodbine in a $50,000 Open, where he finished fourth to Lis Mara, beaten 6 1/4 lengths, pacing his mile in 1:49.1.

"The horse is scratched and he's going to be heading for a second vet opinion," Coleman said Tuesday afternoon.

American Ideal compiled a record of 10-5-1 from 22 starts last season and banked $747,579.

In 2005, American Ideal took a mark of 1:47.4--a world record for a 3 year old--and won divisions of the Tattersalls and Bluegrass after triumphing in the Confederation Cup at Flamboro Downs. (WEG)
